HYMN CIV. INDRA.


योनिषyoniṣ टṭa इन्द्रindra निषदेniṣade अकारिakāri तमाtamā निni षीदṣīda सवानोsvāno नार्वाnārvā |

विमुच्यvimucya वयो.अवसायाश्वानvayo.avasāyāśvān दोषाdoṣā वस्तोर्वहीयसःvastorvahīyasaḥ परपित्वेprapitve ||

THE altar hath been made for thee to rest on: come like a panting courser and be seated.
Loosen thy flying Steeds, set free thy Horses who bear thee swiftly nigh at eve and morning.
1.104.1

ओo तयेtye नरnara इन्द्रमूतयेindramūtaye गुर्नूghurnū चितcit तानtān सद्योsadyo अध्वनोadhvano जगम्यातjaghamyāt |

देवासोdevāso मन्युंmanyuṃ दासस्यdāsasya शचम्ननścamnan तेte नna आā वक्षनvakṣan सुवितायsuvitāya वर्णमvarṇam ||

These men have come to Indra for assistance: shall he not quickly come upon these pathways?
May the Gods quell the fury of the Dāsa, and may they lead our folk to happy fortune.
1.104.2

अवava तमनtmana भरतेbharate केतवेदाketavedā अवava तमनाtmanā भरतेbharate फेनमुदनphenamudan |

कषीरेणkṣīreṇa सनातःsnātaḥ कुयवस्यkuyavasya योषेyoṣe हतेhate तेte सयातांsyātāṃ परवणेpravaṇe शिफायाःśiphāyāḥ ||

He who hath only wish as his possession casts on himself, casts foam amid the waters.
Both wives of Kuyava in milk have bathed them: may they be drowned within the depth of Śiphā.
1.104.3

युयोपyuyopa नाभिरुपरस्यायोःnābhiruparasyāyoḥ परpra पूर्वाभिस्तिरतेpūrvābhistirate राष्टिrāṣṭi शूरःśūraḥ |

अञ्जसीañjasī कुलिशीkuliśī वीरपत्नीvīrapatnī पयोpayo हिन्वानाhinvānā उदभिर्भरन्तेudabhirbharante ||

This hath his kinship checked who lives beside us: with ancient streams forth speeds and rules the Hero,
Añjasī, Kuliśī, and Virapatnī, delighting him, bear milk upon their waters.
1.104.4

परतिprati यतyat सयाsyā नीथादर्शिnīthādarśi दस्योरोकोdasyoroko नाछाnāchā सदनंsadanaṃ जानतीjānatī गातghāt |

अधadha समाsmā नोno मघवञ्चर्क्र्तादिनmaghavañcarkṛtādin माmā नोno मघेवmagheva निष्षपीniṣṣapī पराparā दाःdāḥ ||

Soon as this Dasyu's traces were discovered, as she who knows her home, he sought the dwelling.
Now think thou of us, Maghavan, nor cast us away as doth a profligate his treasure.
1.104.5

सsa तवंtvaṃ नna इन्द्रindra सूर्येsūrye सोso अप्स्वनागास्त्वapsvanāghāstva आā भजbhaja जीवशंसेjīvaśaṃse |

मान्तरांmāntarāṃ भुजमाbhujamā रीरिषोrīriṣo नःnaḥ शरद्धितंśraddhitaṃ तेte महतmahata इन्द्रियायindriyāya ||

Indra, as such, give us a share of sunlight, of waters, sinlessness, and reputation.
Do thou no harm to our yet unborn offspring: our trust is in thy mighty Indra-power.
1.104.6

अधाadhā मन्येmanye शरतśrat तेte अस्माasmā अधायिadhāyi वर्षाvṛṣā चोदस्वcodasva महतेmahate धनायdhanāya |

माmā नोno अक्र्तेakṛte पुरुहूतpuruhūta योनाविन्द्रyonāvindra कषुध्यद्भ्योkṣudhyadbhyo वयvaya आसुतिंāsutiṃ दाःdāḥ ||

Now we, I think, in thee as such have trusted: lead us on, Mighty One, to ample riches.
In no unready house give us, O Indra invoked of many, food and drink when hungry.
1.104.7

माmā नोno वधीरिन्द्रvadhīrindra माmā पराparā दाdā माmā नःnaḥ परियाpriyā भोजनानिbhojanāni परpra मोषीःmoṣīḥ |

आण्डाāṇḍā माmā नोno मघवञ्छक्रmaghavañchakra निर्भेनnirbhen माmā नःnaḥ पात्राpātrā भेतbhet सहजानुषाणिsahajānuṣāṇi ||

Slay us not, Indra; do not thou forsake us: steal not away the joys which we delight in.
Rend not our unborn brood, strong Lord of Bounty! our vessels with the life that is within them.
1.104.8

अर्वांarvāṃ एहिehi सोमकामंsomakāmaṃ तवाहुरयंtvāhurayaṃ सुतस्तस्यsutastasya पिबाpibā मदायmadāya |

उरुव्यचाuruvyacā जथरjathara आā वर्षस्वvṛṣasva पितेवpiteva नःnaḥ शर्णुहिśṛṇuhi हूयमानःhūyamānaḥ ||

Come to us; they have called thee Soma-lover: here is the pressed juice. Drink thereof for rapture.
Widely-capacious, pour it down within thee, and, invocated, hear us like a Father.
