इदंidaṃ शरेष्ठंśreṣṭhaṃ जयोतिषांjyotiṣāṃ जयोतिरागाच्चित्रःjyotirāghāccitraḥ परकेतोpraketo अजनिष्टajaniṣṭa विभ्वाvibhvā |

यथाyathā परसूताprasūtā सवितुःsavituḥ सवयमेवाsavayamevā रात्र्युषसेrātryuṣase योनिमारैकyonimāraik ||
This light is come, amid all lights the fairest; born is the brilliant, far-extending brightness.
Night, sent away for Savitar's uprising, hath yielded up a birth-place for the Morning.

रुशद्वत्साruśadvatsā रुशतीruśatī शवेत्यागादारैगुśvetyāghādāraighu कर्ष्णाkṛṣṇā सदनान्यस्याःsadanānyasyāḥ |

समानबन्धूsamānabandhū अम्र्तेamṛte अनुचीanucī दयावाdyāvā वर्णंvarṇaṃ चरतcarata आमिनानेāmināne ||
The Fair, the Bright is come with her white offspring; to her the Dark One hath resigned her dwelling.
Akin, immortal, following each other, changing their colours both the heavens move onward.
1.113.2
समानोsamāno अध्वाadhvā सवस्रोरनन्तस्तमन्यान्याsvasroranantastamanyānyā चरतोcarato देवशिष्टेdevaśiṣṭe |

नna मेथेतेmethete नna तस्थतुःtasthatuḥ सुमेकेsumeke नक्तोषासाnaktoṣāsā समनसाsamanasā विरूपेvirūpe ||
Common, unending is the Sisters' pathway; taught by the Gods, alternately they travel.
Fair-formed, of different hues and yet one-minded, Night and Dawn clash not, neither do they travel.

भास्वतीbhāsvatī नेत्रीnetrī सून्र्तानामचेतिsūnṛtānāmaceti चित्राcitrā विvi दुरोduro नna आवःāvaḥ |

परार्प्याprārpyā जगदjaghad वयुvyu नोno रायोrāyo अख्यदुषाakhyaduṣā अजीगर्भुवनानिajīgharbhuvanāni विश्वाviśvā ||
Bright leader of glad sounds, our eyes behold her; splendid in hue she hath unclosed the portals.
She, stirring up the world, hath shown us riches: Dawn hath awakened every living creature.
1.113.4
जिह्मश्येjihmaśye चरितवेcaritave मघोन्याभोगयmaghonyābhoghaya इष्टयेiṣṭaye रायrāya उu तवमtvam |

दभ्रंdabhraṃ पश्यद्भ्यpaśyadbhya उर्वियाurviyā विचक्षvicakṣa उषाuṣā ||
Rich Dawn, she sets afoot the coiled-up sleeper, one for enjoyment, one for wealth or worship,
Those who saw little for extended vision. All living creatures hath the Dawn awakened.
1.113.5
कषत्रायkṣatrāya तवंtvaṃ शरवसेśravase तवंtvaṃ महीयाmahīyā इष्टयेiṣṭaye तवमर्थमिवत्वमित्यैtvamarthamivatvamityai |

विसद्र्शाvisadṛśā जीविताभिप्रचक्षjīvitābhipracakṣa उषाuṣā ...... ||
One to high sway, one to exalted glory, one to pursue his gain, and one his labour:
All to regard their different vocations, all moving creatures hath the Dawn awakened.
1.113.6
एषाeṣā दिवोdivo दुहिताduhitā परत्यदर्शिpratyadarśi वयुछन्तीvyuchantī युवतिःyuvatiḥ शुक्रवासाःśukravāsāḥ |

विश्वस्येशानाviśvasyeśānā पार्थिवस्यpārthivasya वस्वvasva उषोuṣo अद्येहadyeha सुभगेव्युछsubhaghevyucha ||
We see her there, the Child of Heaven apparent, the young Maid, flushing in her shining raiment.
Thou sovran Lady of all earthly treasure, flush on us here, auspicious Dawn, this morning.
1.113.7
परायतीनामन्वेतिparāyatīnāmanveti पाथpātha आयतीनांāyatīnāṃ परथमाprathamā शश्वतीनामśaśvatīnām |

वयुछन्तीvyuchantī जीवमुदीरयन्त्युषाjīvamudīrayantyuṣā मर्तंmṛtaṃ कंkaṃ चनcana बोधयन्तीbodhayantī ||
She first of endless morns to come hereafter, follows the path of morns that have departed.
Dawn, at her rising, urges forth the living him who is dead she wakes not from his slumber.
1.113.8
उषोuṣo यदग्निंyadaghniṃ समिधेsamidhe चकर्थcakartha विvi यदावश्चक्षसाyadāvaścakṣasā सूर्यस्यsūryasya |

यनyan मानुषानmānuṣān यक्ष्यमाणानजीगस्तदyakṣyamāṇānajīghastad देवेषुdeveṣu चक्र्षेcakṛṣe भद्रमप्नःbhadramapnaḥ ||
As thou, Dawn, hast caused Agni to be kindled, and with the Sun's eye hast revealed creation.
And hast awakened men to offer worship, thou hast performed, for Gods, a noble service.
1.113.9
कियात्याkiyātyā यतyat समयाsamayā भवातिbhavāti याyā वयूषुर्याश्चvyūṣuryāśca नूनंव्युछानnūnaṃvyuchān |

अनुanu पूर्वाःpūrvāḥ कर्पतेkṛpate वावशानाvāvaśānā परदीध्यानाpradīdhyānā जोषमन्याभिरेतिjoṣamanyābhireti ||
How long a time, and they shall be together,—Dawns that have shone and Dawns to shine hereafter?
She yearns for former Dawns with eager longing, and goes forth gladly shining with the others.
1.113.10
ईयुषīyuṣ टेṭe येye पूर्वतरामपश्यनpūrvatarāmapaśyan वयुछन्तीमुषसंvyuchantīmuṣasaṃ मर्त्यासःmartyāsaḥ |

अस्माभिरूasmābhirū नुnu परतिचक्ष्याभूदोpraticakṣyābhūdo तेte यन्तिyanti येye अपरीषुaparīṣu पश्यानpaśyān ||
Gone are the men who in the days before us looked on the rising of the earlier Morning.
We, we the living, now behold her brightness and they come nigh who shall hereafter see her.
1.113.11
यावयद्द्वेषाyāvayaddveṣā रतपाṛtapā रतेजाःṛtejāḥ सुम्नावरीsumnāvarī सून्र्ताsūnṛtā ईरयन्तीīrayantī |

सुमङगलीर्बिभ्रतीsumaṅghalīrbibhratī देववीतिमिहाद्योषःdevavītimihādyoṣaḥ शरेष्ठतमाव्युछśreṣṭhatamāvyucha ||
Foe-chaser, born of Law, the Law's protectress, joy-giver, waker of all pleasant voices,
Auspicious, bringing food for Gods’ enjoyment, shine on us here, most bright, O Dawn, this morning.
1.113.12
शश्वतśaśvat पुरोषाpuroṣā वयुवासvyuvāsa देव्यथोdevyatho अद्येदंadyedaṃ वयावोvyāvo मघोनीmaghonī |

अथोatho वयुछादुत्तराननुvyuchāduttarānanu दयूनजराम्र्ताdyūnajarāmṛtā चरतिcarati सवधाभिःsvadhābhiḥ ||
From days eternal hath Dawn shone, the Goddess, and shows this light to-day, endowed with riches.
So will she shine on days to come immortal she moves on in her own strength, undecaying.
1.113.13
वयञ्जिभिर्दिवvyañjibhirdiva आतास्वद्यौदपātāsvadyaudapa कर्ष्णांkṛṣṇāṃ निर्णिजंnirṇijaṃ देव्यावःdevyāvaḥ |

परबोधयन्त्यरुणेभिरश्वैरोषाprabodhayantyaruṇebhiraśvairoṣā यातिyāti सुयुजाsuyujā रथेनrathena ||
In the sky's borders hath she shone in splendour: the Goddess hath thrown off the veil of darkness.
Awakening the world with purple horses, on her well-harnessed chariot Dawn approaches.
1.113.14
आवहन्तीāvahantī पोष्याpoṣyā वार्याणिvāryāṇi चित्रंcitraṃ केतुंketuṃ कर्णुतेkṛṇute चेकितानाcekitānā |

ईयुषीणामुपमाīyuṣīṇāmupamā शश्वतीनांśaśvatīnāṃ विभातीनांvibhātīnāṃ परथमोषाprathamoṣā वयश्वैतvyaśvait ||
Bringing all life-sustaining blessings with her, showing herself she sends forth brilliant lustre.
Last of the countless mornings that have vanished, first of bright morns to come hath Dawn arisen.
1.113.15
उदीर्ध्वंudīrdhvaṃ जीवोjīvo असुर्नasurna आगादपāghādapa परागातprāghāt तमtama आā जयोतिरेतिjyotireti |

आरैकāraik पन्थांpanthāṃ यातवेyātave सूर्यायागन्मsūryāyāghanma यत्रyatra परतिरन्तpratiranta आयुःāyuḥ ||
Arise! the breath, the life, again hath reached us: darkness hath passed away and light approacheth.
She for the Sun hath left a path to travel we have arrived where men prolong existence.
1.113.16
सयूमनाsyūmanā वाचvāca उदियर्तिudiyarti वह्निvahni सतवानोstavāno रेभrebha उषसोuṣaso विभातीःvibhātīḥ |

अद्याadyā तदुछtaducha गर्णतेghṛṇate मघोन्यस्मेmaghonyasme आयुर्निāyurni दिदीहिdidīhi परजावतprajāvat ||
Singing the praises of refulgent Mornings with his hymn's web the priest, the poet rises.
Shine then to-day, rich Maid, on him who lauds thee, shine down on us the gift of life and offspring.
1.113.17
याyā गोमतीरुषसःghomatīruṣasaḥ सर्ववीराsarvavīrā वयुछन्तिvyuchanti दाशुषेdāśuṣe मर्त्यायmartyāya |

वायोरिवvāyoriva सून्र्तानामुदर्केsūnṛtānāmudarke ताtā अश्वदाaśvadā अश्नवतaśnavat सोमसुत्वाsomasutvā ||
Dawns giving sons all heroes, kine and horses, shining upon the man who brings oblations,—
These let the Soma-presser gain when ending his glad songs louder than the voice of Vāyu.
1.113.18
माताmātā देवानामदितेरनीकंdevānāmaditeranīkaṃ यज्ञस्यyajñasya केतुर्ब्र्हतीketurbṛhatī विvi भाहिbhāhi |

परशस्तिक्र्दpraśastikṛd बरह्मणेbrahmaṇe नोno वयुछाvyuchā नोno जनेjane जनयjanaya विश्ववारेviśvavāre ||
Mother of Gods, Aditi's form of glory, ensign of sacrifice, shine forth exalted.
Rise up, bestowing praise on our devotion all-bounteous, make us chief among the people.
1.113.19
यच्चित्रमप्नyaccitramapna उषसोuṣaso वहन्तीजानायvahantījānāya शशमानायśaśamānāya भद्रमbhadram |

तनtan नोno ...... ||
Whatever splendid wealth the Dawns bring with them to bless the man who offers praise and worship,
Even that may Mitra, Varuṇa vouchsafe us, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.
