हंसावhaṃsāv इवiva पततमpatatam आā सुतांsutāṃ उपupa ||
YE Aśvins, hither come to us: Nāsatyas, be not disinclined.
Fly hither like two swans unto the juice we shed.
5.78.1
अश्विनाaśvinā हरिणावhariṇāv इवiva गौरावghaurāv इवानुivānu यवसमyavasam |

हंसावhaṃsāv इवiva पततमpatatam आā सुतांsutāṃ उपupa ||
O Aśvins, like a pair of deer, like two wild cattle to the mead:
Fly hither like two swans unto the juice we shed.
5.78.2
अश्विनाaśvinā वाजिनीवसूvājinīvasū जुषेथांjuṣethāṃ यज्ञमyajñam इष्टयेiṣṭaye |

हंसावhaṃsāv इवiva पततमpatatam आā सुतांsutāṃ उपupa ||
O Aśvins rich in gifts, accept our sacrifice to prosper it:
Fly hither like two swans unto the juice we shed.
5.78.3
अत्रिरatrir यदyad वामvām अवरोहन्नavarohann रबीसमṛbīsam अजोहवीनajohavīn नाधमानेवnādhamāneva योषाyoṣā |

शयेनस्यśyenasya चिजcij जवसाjavasā नूतनेनागछतमnūtanenāghachatam अश्विनाaśvinā शंतमेनśaṃtamena ||
As Atri when descending to the cavern called on you loudly like a wailing woman.
Ye came to him, O Aśvins, with the freshest and most auspicious fleetness of a falcon.
5.78.4
विvi जिहीष्वjihīṣva वनस्पतेvanaspate योनिःyoniḥ सूष्यन्त्याsūṣyantyā इवiva |

शरुतमśrutam मेme अश्विनाaśvinā हवंhavaṃ सप्तवध्रिंsaptavadhriṃ चca मुञ्चतमmuñcatam ||
Tree, part asunder like the side of her who bringeth forth a child.
Ye Aśvins, listen to my call: loose Saptavadhri from his bonds.
5.78.5
भीतायbhītāya नाधमानायnādhamānāya रषयेṛṣaye सप्तवध्रयेsaptavadhraye |

मायाभिरmāyābhir अश्विनाaśvinā युवंyuvaṃ वर्क्षंvṛkṣaṃ संsaṃ चca विvi चाचथःcācathaḥ ||
For Saptavadhri, for the seer affrighted when he wept and wailed,
Ye, Aśvins, with your magic powers rent up the tree and shattered it.
5.78.6
यथाyathā वातःvātaḥ पुष्करिणींpuṣkariṇīṃ समिङगयतिsamiṅghayati सर्वतःsarvataḥ |

एवाevā तेte गर्भgharbha एजतुejatu निरैतुniraitu दशमास्यःdaśamāsyaḥ ||
Like as the wind on every side ruffles a pool of lotuses,
So stir in thee the babe unborn, so may the ten-month babe descend.
5.78.7
यथाyathā वातोvāto यथाyathā वनंvanaṃ यथाyathā समुद्रsamudra एजतिejati |

एवाevā तवंtvaṃ दशमास्यdaśamāsya सहावेहिsahāvehi जरायुणाjarāyuṇā ||
Like as the wind, like as the wood, like as the sea is set astir,
So also, ten-month babe, descend together with the after-birth.
5.78.8
दशdaśa मासाञmāsāñ छशयानःchaśayānaḥ कुमारोkumāro अधिadhi मातरिmātari |

निरैतुniraitu जीवोjīvo अक्षतोakṣato जीवोjīvo जीवन्त्याjīvantyā अधिadhi ||
The child who hath for ten months' time been lying in his mother's side,—
May he come forth alive, unharmed, yea, living from the living dame.
