चित्रंcitraṃ देवानामुदगादनीकंdevānāmudaghādanīkaṃ चक्षुर्मित्रस्यcakṣurmitrasya वरुणस्याग्नेःvaruṇasyāghneḥ |

आप्राāprā दयावाप्र्थिवीdyāvāpṛthivī अन्तरिक्षंantarikṣaṃ सूर्यsūrya आत्माātmā जगतस्तस्थुषश्चjaghatastasthuṣaśca ||
THE brilliant presence of the Gods hath risen, the eye of Mitra, Varuṇa and Agni.
The soul of all that moveth not or moveth, the Sun hath filled the air and earth and heaven.
1.115.1
सूर्योsūryo देवीमुषसंdevīmuṣasaṃ रोचमानांrocamānāṃ मर्योmaryo नna योषामभ्येतिyoṣāmabhyeti पश्चातpaścāt |

यत्राyatrā नरोnaro देवयन्तोdevayanto युगानिyughāni वितन्वतेvitanvate परतिprati भद्रायbhadrāya भद्रमbhadram ||
Like as a young man followeth a maiden, so doth the Sun the Dawn, refulgent Goddess:
Where pious men extend their generations, before the Auspicious One for happy fortune.

भद्राbhadrā अश्वाaśvā हरितःharitaḥ सूर्यस्यsūryasya चित्राcitrā एतग्वाetaghvā अनुमाद्यासःanumādyāsaḥ |

नमस्यन्तोnamasyanto दिवdiva आā पर्ष्ठमस्थुःpṛṣṭhamasthuḥ परिpari दयावाप्र्थिवीdyāvāpṛthivī यन्तिyanti सद्यःsadyaḥ ||
Auspicious are the Sun's Bay-coloured Horses, bright, changing hues, meet for our shouts of triumph.
Bearing our prayers, the sky's ridge have they mounted, and in a moment speed round earth and heaven.
1.115.3
ततtat सूर्यस्यsūryasya देवत्वंdevatvaṃ तनtan महित्वंmahitvaṃ मध्याmadhyā कर्तोर्विततंkartorvitataṃ संsaṃ जभारjabhāra |

यदेदयुक्तyadedayukta हरितःharitaḥ सधस्थादादsadhasthādād रात्रीrātrī वासस्तनुतेvāsastanute सिमस्मैsimasmai ||
This is the Godhead, this might of Sūrya: he hath withdrawn what spread o’er work unfinished.
When he hath loosed his Horses from their station, straight over all Night spreadeth out her garment.
1.115.4
तनtan मित्रस्यmitrasya वरुणस्याभिचक्षेvaruṇasyābhicakṣe सूर्योsūryo रूपंrūpaṃ कर्णुतेkṛṇute दयोरुपस्थेdyorupasthe |

अनन्तमन्यदanantamanyad रुशदस्यruśadasya पाजःpājaḥ कर्ष्णमन्यदkṛṣṇamanyad धरितःdharitaḥ संsaṃ भरन्तिbharanti ||
In the sky's lap the Sun this form assumeth that Varuṇa and Mitra may behold it.
His Bay Steeds well maintain his power eternal, at one time bright and darksome at another.
1.115.5
अद्याadyā देवाdevā उदिताuditā सूर्यस्यsūryasya निरंहसःniraṃhasaḥ पिप्र्ताpipṛtā नरवद्यातnaravadyāt |

तनtan नोno ...... ||
This day, O Gods, while Sūrya is ascending, deliver us from trouble and dishonour.
This prayer of ours may Varuṇa grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.
