HYMN CXXI. KA.


हिरण्यगर्भःhiraṇyagharbhaḥ समवर्तताग्रेsamavartatāghre भूतस्यbhūtasya जातःjātaḥ पतिरेकासीतpatirekaāsīt |

सsa दाधारdādhāra पर्थिवींpṛthivīṃ दयामुतेमांdyāmutemāṃ कस्मैkasmai देवायहविषाdevāyahaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

IN the beginning rose Hiranyagarbha, born Only Lord of all created beings.
He fixed and holdeth up this earth and heaven. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.1

यya आत्मदाātmadā बलदाbaladā यस्यyasya विश्वviśva उपासतेupāsate परशिषंpraśiṣaṃ यस्यदेवाःyasyadevāḥ |

यस्यyasya छायाम्र्तंchāyāmṛtaṃ यस्यyasya मर्त्युःmṛtyuḥ कस्मैkasmai देवायहविषाdevāyahaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

Giver of vital breath, of power and vigour, he whose commandments all the Gods acknowledge -.
The Lord of death, whose shade is life immortal. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.2

यःyaḥ पराणतोprāṇato निमिषतोnimiṣato महित्वैकmahitvaika इदid राजाrājā जगतोjaghato बभूवbabhūva |

यya ईशेīśe अस्यasya दविपदश्चतुष्पदःdvipadaścatuṣpadaḥ कस्मैkasmai देवायdevāya हविषाविधेमhaviṣāvidhema ||

Who by his grandeur hath become Sole Ruler of all the moving world that breathes and slumbers;
He who is Loord of men and Lord of cattle. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.3

यस्येमेyasyeme हिमवन्तोhimavanto महित्वाmahitvā यस्यyasya समुद्रंsamudraṃ रसयाrasayā सहाहुःsahāhuḥ |

यस्येमाःyasyemāḥ परदिशोpradiśo यस्यyasya बाहूbāhū कस्मैkasmai देवायdevāya हविषाविधेमhaviṣāvidhema ||

His, through his might, are these snow-covered mountains, and men call sea and Rasā his possession:
His arms are these, his are these heavenly regions. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.4

येनyena दयौरुग्राdyaurughrā पर्थिवीpṛthivī चca दर्ळ्हाdṛḷhā येनyena सवsva सतभितंstabhitaṃ येननाकःyenanākaḥ |

योyo अन्तरिक्षेantarikṣe रजसोrajaso विमानःvimānaḥ कस्मैkasmai देवायहविषाdevāyahaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

By him the heavens are strong and earth is stedfast, by him light's realm and sky-vault are supported:
By him the regions in mid-air were measured. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.5

यंyaṃ करन्दसीkrandasī अवसाavasā तस्तभानेtastabhāne अभ्यैक्षेतांabhyaikṣetāṃ मनसारेजमानेmanasārejamāne |

यत्राधिyatrādhi सूरsūra उदितोudito विभातिvibhāti कस्मैkasmai देवायहविषाdevāyahaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

To him, supported by his help, two armies embattled look while trembling in their spirit,
When over them the risen Sun is shining. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.6

आपोāpo हha यदyad बर्हतीर्विश्वमायनbṛhatīrviśvamāyan गर्भंgharbhaṃ दधानाजनयन्तीरग्निमdadhānājanayantīraghnim |

ततोtato देवानांdevānāṃ समवर्ततासुरेकःकस्मैsamavartatāsurekaḥkasmai देवायdevāya हविषाhaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

What time the mighty waters came, containing the universal germ, producing Agni,
Thence sprang the Gods’ one spirit into being. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.7

यश्चिदापोyaścidāpo महिनाmahinā पर्यपश्यदparyapaśyad दक्षंdakṣaṃ दधानाजनयन्तीर्यज्ञमdadhānājanayantīryajñam |

योyo देवेष्वधिdeveṣvadhi देवdeva एकeka आसीतāsīt कस्मैदेवायkasmaidevāya हविषाhaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

He in his might surveyed the floods containing productive force and generating Worship.
He is the God of gods, and none beside him. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.8

माmā नोno हिंसीज्जनिताhiṃsījjanitā यःyaḥ पर्थिव्याpṛthivyā योyo वाvā दिवंसत्यधर्माdivaṃsatyadharmā जजानjajāna |

यश्चापश्चन्द्राyaścāpaścandrā बर्हतीर्जजानकस्मैbṛhatīrjajānakasmai देवायdevāya हविषाhaviṣā विधेमvidhema ||

Neer may he harm us who is earth's Begetter, nor he whose laws are sure, the heavens' Creator,
He who brought forth the great and lucid waters. What God shall we adore with our oblation?
10.121.9

परजापतेprajāpate नna तवदेतान्यन्योtvadetānyanyo विश्वाviśvā जातानिjātāni परिpari ताबभूवtābabhūva |

यत्कामास्तेyatkāmāste जुहुमस्तनjuhumastan नोno अस्तुastu वयंvayaṃ सयामsyāma पतयोरयीणामpatayorayīṇām ||

Prajāpati! thou only comprehendest all these created things, and none beside thee.
Grant us our hearts' desire when we invoke thee: may we have store of riches in possession.
