HYMN CLV. VARIOUS.


अरायिarāyi काणेkāṇe विकटेvikaṭe गिरिंghiriṃ गछghacha सदान्वेsadānve |

शिरिम्बिठस्यसत्वभिस्तेभिषśirimbiṭhasyasatvabhistebhiṣ टवाṭvā चातयामसिcātayāmasi ||

ARAYI, one-eyed limping hag, fly, ever-screeching, to the hill.
We frighten thee away with these, the heroes of Sirimbitha.
10.155.1

चत्तोcatto इतश्चत्तामुतःitaścattāmutaḥ सर्वाsarvā भरूणान्यारुषीbhrūṇānyāruṣī |

अराय्यंarāyyaṃ बरह्मणसbrahmaṇas पतेpate तीक्ष्णश्र्ण्गोद्र्षन्निहिtīkṣṇaśṛṇghodṛṣannihi ||

Scared from this place and that is she, destroyer of each germ unborn.
Go, sharp-horned Brāhmaṇaspti and drive Arayi far away.
10.155.2

अदोado यदyad दारुdāru पलवतेplavate सिन्धोःsindhoḥ पारेpāre अपूरुषमapūruṣam |

तदारभस्वtadārabhasva दुर्हणोdurhaṇo तेनtena गछghacha परस्तरमparastaram ||

Yon log that floats without a man to guide it on the river's edge,—
Seize it, thou thing with hideous jaws, and go thou far away thereon.
10.155.3

यदyad धdha पराचीरजगन्तोरोprācīrajaghantoro मण्डूरधाणिकीःmaṇḍūradhāṇikīḥ |

हतािन्द्रस्यhatāindrasya शत्रवःśatravaḥ सर्वेsarve बुद्बुदयाशवःbudbudayāśavaḥ ||

When, foul with secret stain and spot, ye hastened onward to the breast,
All Indra's enemies were slain and passed away like froth and foam.
10.155.4

परीमेparīme गामनेषतghāmaneṣata पर्यग्निमह्र्षतparyaghnimahṛṣata |

देवेष्वक्रतश्रवःdeveṣvakrataśravaḥ कka इमानाimānā दधर्षतिdadharṣati ||

These men have led about the cow, have duly carried Agni round,
And raised their glory tg the Gods. Who will attack them with success?
