HYMN LII. INDRA.


धानावन्तंdhānāvantaṃ करम्भिणमपूपवन्तमुक्थिनमkarambhiṇamapūpavantamukthinam |

इन्द्रindra परातर्जुषस्वprātarjuṣasva नःnaḥ ||

INDRA, accept at break of day our Soma mixt with roasted corn,
With groats with cake, with eulogies.
3.52.1

पुरोळाशंpuroḷāśaṃ पचत्यंpacatyaṃ जुषस्वेन्द्राjuṣasvendrā गुरस्वghurasva चca |

तुभ्यंtubhyaṃ हव्यानिhavyāni सिस्रतेsisrate ||

Accept, O Indra, and enjoy the well-dressed sacrificial cake: Oblations are poured forth to thee.
3.52.2

पुरोळाशंpuroḷāśaṃ चca नोno घसोghaso जोषयासेjoṣayāse गिरश्चghiraśca नःnaḥ |

वधूयुरिवvadhūyuriva योषणामyoṣaṇām ||

Consume our sacrificial cake, accept the songs of praise we sing,
As he who woes accepts his bride.
3.52.3

पुरोळाशंpuroḷāśaṃ सनश्रुतsanaśruta परातःसावेprātaḥsāve जुषस्वjuṣasva नःnaḥ |

इन्द्रindra करतुर्हिkraturhi तेte बर्हनbṛhan ||

Famed from of old, accept the cake at our libation poured at dawn,
Forgreat, O Indra, is thy power.
3.52.4

माध्यन्दिनस्यmādhyandinasya सवनस्यsavanasya धानाःdhānāḥ पुरोळाशमिन्द्रpuroḷāśamindra कर्ष्वेहचारुमkṛṣvehacārum |

परpra यतyat सतोताstotā जरिताjaritā तूर्ण्यर्थोtūrṇyartho वर्षायमाणvṛṣāyamāṇa उपupa गीर्भिरीट्टेghīrbhirīṭṭe ||

Let roasted corn of our midday libation, and sacrificial cake here please thee, Indra,
What time the lauding singer, keen of purpose and eager as a bull, with hymns implores thee.
3.52.5

तर्तीयेtṛtīye धानाःdhānāḥ सवनेsavane पुरुष्टुतpuruṣṭuta पुरोळाशमाहुतंpuroḷāśamāhutaṃ मामहस्वmāmahasva नःnaḥ |

रभुमन्तंṛbhumantaṃ वाजवन्तंvājavantaṃ तवाtvā कवेkave परयस्वन्तprayasvanta उपupa शिक्षेमśikṣema धीतिभिःdhītibhiḥ ||

At the third sacrifice, O thou whom many praise, give glory to the roasted corn and holy cake.
With offered viands and with songs may we assist thee, Sage, whom Vāja and the Ṛbhus wait upon.
3.52.6

पूषण्वतेpūṣaṇvate तेte चक्र्माcakṛmā करम्भंkarambhaṃ हरिवतेharivate हर्यश्वायharyaśvāya धानाःdhānāḥ |

अपूपमद्धिapūpamaddhi सगणोsaghaṇo मरुद्भिःmarudbhiḥ सोमंsomaṃ पिबpiba वर्त्रहाvṛtrahā शूरśūra विद्वानvidvān ||

The groats have we prepared for thee with Pūṣan, corn for thee, Lord of Bay Steeds, with thy horses.
Eat thou the meal-cake, banded with the Maruts, wise Hero, Vṛtra-slayer, drink the Soma.
3.52.7

परतिprati धानाdhānā भरतbharata तूयमस्मैtūyamasmai पुरोळाशंpuroḷāśaṃ वीरतमायvīratamāya नर्णामnṛṇām |

दिवे-दिवेdive-dive सद्र्शीरिन्द्रsadṛśīrindra तुभ्यंtubhyaṃ वर्धन्तुvardhantu तवाtvā सोमपेयायsomapeyāya धर्ष्णोdhṛṣṇo ||

Bring forth the roasted corn to meet him quickly, cake for the bravest Hero mid the heroes.
Indra, may hymns accordant with thee daily strengthen thee, Bold One, for the draught of Soma.
