HYMN LXXIII. BṚHASPATI.


योyo अद्रिभितadribhit परथमजाprathamajā रतावाṛtāvā बर्हस्पतिराङगिरसोbṛhaspatirāṅghiraso हविष्मानhaviṣmān |

दविबर्हज्माdvibarhajmā पराघर्मसतprāgharmasat पिताpitā नna आā रोदसीrodasī वर्षभोvṛṣabho रोरवीतिroravīti ||

SERVED with oblations, first-born, mountain-render, Aṅgiras' son, Bṛhaspati, the Holy,
With twice-firm path, dwelling in light, our Father, roars loudly, as a bull, to Earth and Heaven.
6.73.1

जनायjanāya चिदcid यya ईवतīvata उu लोकंlokaṃ बर्हस्पतिर्देवहूतौbṛhaspatirdevahūtau चकारcakāra |

घननghnan वर्त्राणिvṛtrāṇi विvi पुरोpuro दर्दरीतिdardarīti जयञ्छत्रून्रमित्रानjayañchatrūnramitrān पर्त्सुpṛtsu साहनsāhan ||

Bṛhaspati, who made for such a people wide room and verge when Gods were invocated,
Slaying his enemies, breaks down their castles, quelling his foes and conquering those who hate him.
6.73.2

बर्हस्पतिःbṛhaspatiḥ समजयदsamajayad वसूनिvasūni महोmaho वरजानvrajān गोमतोghomato देवdeva एषःeṣaḥ |

अपःapaḥ सिषासनsiṣāsan सवरप्रतीतोsvarapratīto बर्हस्पतिर्हन्त्यमित्रमर्कैःbṛhaspatirhantyamitramarkaiḥ ||

Bṛhaspati in war hath won rich treasures, hath won, this God, the great stalls filled with cattle.
Striving to win waters and light, resistless, Bṛhaspati with lightning smites the foeman.
