अग्निंaghniṃ दूतंdūtaṃ वर्णीमहेvṛṇīmahe होतारंhotāraṃ विश्ववेदसमviśvavedasam |

अस्यasya यज्ञस्यyajñasya सुक्रतुमsukratum ||
WE choose Agni the messenger, the herald, master of all wealth,
Well skilled in this our sacrifice.
1.12.1
अग्निम-अग्निंaghnim-aghniṃ हवीमभिःhavīmabhiḥ सदाsadā हवन्तhavanta विश्पतिमviśpatim |

हव्यवाहंhavyavāhaṃ पुरुप्रियमpurupriyam ||
With callings ever they invoke Agni, Agni, Lord of the House,
Oblation-bearer, much beloved.
1.12.2
अग्नेaghne देवानिहाdevānihā वहvaha जज्ञानोjajñāno वर्क्तबर्हिषेvṛktabarhiṣe |

असिasi होताhotā नna ईड्यःīḍyaḥ ||
Bring the Gods hither, Agni, born for him who strews the sacred grass:
Thou art our herald, meet for praise.
1.12.3
तानुशतोtānuśato विvi बोधयbodhaya यदग्नेyadaghne यासिyāsi दूत्यमdūtyam |

देवैराdevairā सत्सिsatsi बर्हिषिbarhiṣi ||
Wake up the willing Gods, since thou, Agni, performest embassage:
Sit on the sacred grass with Gods.
1.12.4
घर्ताहवनghṛtāhavana दीदिवःdīdivaḥ परतिprati षमṣma रिषतोriṣato दहdaha |

अग्नेaghne तवंtvaṃ रक्षस्विनःrakṣasvinaḥ ||
O Agni, radiant One, to whom the holy oil is poured, burn up
Our enemies whom fiends protect.
1.12.5
अग्निनाग्निःaghnināghniḥ समिध्यतेsamidhyate कविर्ग्र्हपतिर्युवाkavirghṛhapatiryuvā |

हव्यवाडhavyavāḍ जुह्वास्यःjuhvāsyaḥ ||
By Agni Agni is inflamed, Lord of the House, wise, young, who bears
The gift: the ladle is his mouth.
1.12.6
कविमग्निमुपkavimaghnimupa सतुहिstuhi सत्यधर्माणमध्वरेsatyadharmāṇamadhvare |

देवममीवचातनमdevamamīvacātanam ||
Praise Agni in the sacrifice, the Sage whose ways are ever true,
The God who driveth grief away.
1.12.7
यस्त्वामग्नेyastvāmaghne हविष्पतिर्दूतंhaviṣpatirdūtaṃ देवdeva सपर्यतिsaparyati |

तस्यtasya समsma पराविताprāvitā भवbhava ||
God, Agni, be his strong defence who lord of sacrificial gifts,
Worshippeth thee the messenger.
1.12.8
योyo अग्निंaghniṃ देववीतयेdevavītaye हविष्मानाविवासतिhaviṣmānāvivāsati |

तस्मैtasmai पावकpāvaka मर्ळयmṛḷaya ||
Whoso with sacred gift would fain call Agni to the feast of Gods,
O Purifier, favour him.
1.12.9
सsa नःnaḥ पावकpāvaka दीदिवो.अग्नेdīdivo.aghne देवानिहाdevānihā वहvaha |

उपupa यज्ञंyajñaṃ हविश्चhaviśca नःnaḥ ||
Such, Agni, Purifier, bright, bring hither to our sacrifice,
To our oblation bring the Gods.
1.12.10
सsa नna सतवानstavāna आā भरbhara गायत्रेणghāyatreṇa नवीयसाnavīyasā |

रयिंrayiṃ वीरवतीमिषमvīravatīmiṣam ||
So lauded by our newest song of praise bring opulence to us,
And food, with heroes for our sons.
1.12.11
अग्नेaghne शुक्रेणśukreṇa शोचिषाśociṣā विश्वाभिर्देवहूतिभिःviśvābhirdevahūtibhiḥ |

इमंimaṃ सतोमंstomaṃ जुषस्वjuṣasva नःnaḥ ||
O Agni, by effulgent flame, by all invokings of the Gods,
Show pleasure in this laud of ours.
