निni काव्याkāvyā वेधसःvedhasaḥ शश्वतसśaśvatas कर्हस्तेkarhaste दधानोdadhāno नर्याnaryā पुरूणिpurūṇi |

अग्निर्भुवदaghnirbhuvad रयिपतीrayipatī रयीणांrayīṇāṃ सत्राsatrā चक्राणोcakrāṇo अम्र्तानिamṛtāni विश्वाviśvā ||
THOUGH holding many gifts for men, he humbleth the higher powers of each wise ordainer.
Agni is now the treasure-lord of treasures, for ever granting all immortal bounties.
1.72.1
अस्मेasme वत्संvatsaṃ परिpari षन्तंṣantaṃ नna विन्दन्निछन्तोvindannichanto विश्वेviśve अम्र्ताamṛtā अमूराःamūrāḥ |

शरमयुवःśramayuvaḥ पदव्योpadavyo धियन्धास्तस्थुःdhiyandhāstasthuḥ पदेpade परमेचार्वग्नेःparamecārvaghneḥ ||
The Gods infallible all searching found not him, the dear Babe who still is round about us.
Worn weary, following his track, devoted, they reached the lovely highest home of Agni.
1.72.2
तिस्रोtisro यदग्नेyadaghne शरदस्त्वामिच्छुचिंśaradastvāmicchuciṃ घर्तेनghṛtena शुचयःśucayaḥ सपर्यानsaparyān |

नामानिnāmāni चिदcid दधिरेdadhire यज्ञियान्यसूदयन्तyajñiyānyasūdayanta तन्वःtanvaḥ सुजाताःsujātāḥ ||
Because with holy oil the pure Ones, Agni, served thee the very pure three autumn seasons,
Therefore they won them holy names for worship, and nobly born they dignified their bodies.
1.72.3
आā रोदसीrodasī बर्हतीbṛhatī वेविदानाःvevidānāḥ परpra रुद्रियाrudriyā जभ्रिरेjabhrire यज्ञियासःyajñiyāsaḥ |

विदनvidan मर्तोmarto नेमधिताnemadhitā चिकित्वानग्निंcikitvānaghniṃ पदेpade परमेparame तस्थिवांसमtasthivāṃsam ||
Making them known to spacious earth and heaven, the holy Ones revealed the powers of Rudra.
The mortal band, discerning in the distance, found Agni standing in the loftiest station.
1.72.4
संजानानाsaṃjānānā उपupa सीदन्नभिज्ञुsīdannabhijñu पत्नीवन्तोpatnīvanto नमस्यंnamasyaṃ नमस्यनnamasyan |

रिरिक्वांसस्तन्वःririkvāṃsastanvaḥ कर्ण्वतkṛṇvata सवाःsvāḥ सखाsakhā सख्युर्निमिषिरक्षमाणाःsakhyurnimiṣirakṣamāṇāḥ ||
Nigh they approached, one-minded, with their spouses, kneeling to him adorable paid worship.
Friend finding in his own friend's eye protection, they made their own the bodies which they chastened.
1.72.5
तरिःtriḥ सप्तsapta यदyad गुह्यानिghuhyāni तवेtve इतit पदाविदनpadāvidan निहिताnihitā यज्ञियासःyajñiyāsaḥ |

तेभीtebhī रक्षन्तेrakṣante अम्र्तंamṛtaṃ सजोषाःsajoṣāḥ पशूञ्चpaśūñca सथातॄञ्चरथंsthātṝñcarathaṃ चca पाहिpāhi ||
Soon as the holy beings had discovered the thrice-seven mystic things contained within thee,
With these, one-minded, they preserve the Amṛta: guard thou the life of all their plants and cattle.
1.72.6
विद्वानग्नेvidvānaghne वयुनानिvayunāni कषितीनांkṣitīnāṃ वयानुषकvyānuṣak छुरुधोchurudho जीवसेधाःjīvasedhāḥ |

अन्तर्विद्वानध्वनोantarvidvānadhvano देवयानानतन्द्रोdevayānānatandro दूतोdūto अभवोabhavo हविर्वाटhavirvāṭ ||
Thou, Agni, knower of men's works, hast sent us good food in constant course for our subsistence:
Thou deeply skilled in paths of Gods becamest an envoy never wearied, offering-bearer.
1.72.7
सवाध्योsvādhyo दिवdiva आā सप्तsapta यह्वीyahvī रायोrāyo दुरोduro वयvy रतज्ञाṛtajñā अजाननajānan |

विददvidad गव्यंghavyaṃ सरमाsaramā दर्ळ्हमूर्वंdṛḷhamūrvaṃ येनाyenā नुnu कंkaṃ मानुषीभोजतेmānuṣībhojate विटviṭ ||
Knowing the Law, the seven strong floods from heaven, full of good thought, discerned the doors of riches.
Saramā found the cattle's firm-built prison whereby the race of man is still supported.
1.72.8
आā येye विश्वाviśvā सवपत्यानिsvapatyāni तस्थुःtasthuḥ कर्ण्वानासोkṛṇvānāso अम्र्तत्वायamṛtatvāya गातुमghātum |

मह्नाmahnā महद्भिःmahadbhiḥ पर्थिवीpṛthivī विvi तस्थेtasthe माताmātā पुत्रैरदितिर्धायसेputrairaditirdhāyase वेःveḥ ||
They who approached all noble operations making a path that leads to life immortal,
To be the Bird's support, the spacious mother, Aditi, and her great Sons stood in power.
1.72.9
अधिadhi सरियंsriyaṃ निni दधुश्चारुमस्मिनdadhuścārumasmin दिवोdivo यदक्षीyadakṣī अम्र्ताamṛtā अक्र्ण्वनakṛṇvan |

अधadha कषरन्तिkṣaranti सिन्धवोsindhavo नna सर्ष्टाःsṛṣṭāḥ परpra नीnī चीरग्नेरुषीरजाननcīraghnearuṣīrajānan ||
When Gods immortal made both eyes of heaven, they gave to him the gift of beauteous glory.
Now they flow forth like rivers set in motion: they knew the Red Steeds coming down, O Agni.
