अग्नेaghne हंसिhaṃsi नयत्रिणंnyatriṇaṃ दीद्यनdīdyan मर्त्येष्वाmartyeṣvā |

सवेsve कषयेशुचिव्रतkṣayeśucivrata ||
AGNI, refulgent among men thou slayest the devouring fiend,
Bright Ruler in thine own abode.
10.118.1
उतut तिष्ठसिtiṣṭhasi सवाहुतोsvāhuto घर्तानिghṛtāni परतिprati मोदसेmodase |

यतyat तवाtvā सरुचःसमस्थिरनsrucaḥsamasthiran ||
Thou springest up when worshipped well the drops of butter are thy joy
When ladies are brought near to thee.
10.118.2
सsa आहुतोāhuto विvi रोचते.अग्निरीळेन्योrocate.aghnirīḷenyo गिराghirā |

सरुचाsrucā परतीकमज्यतेpratīkamajyate ||
Honoured with gifts he shines afar, Agni adorable with song:
The dripping ladle balms his face.
10.118.3
घर्तेनाग्निःghṛtenāghniḥ समज्यतेsamajyate मधुप्रतीकmadhupratīka आहुतःāhutaḥ |

रोचमानोविभावसुःrocamānovibhāvasuḥ ||
Agni with honey in his mouth, honoured with gifts, is balmed with oil,
Refulgent in his wealth of light.
10.118.4
जरमाणःjaramāṇaḥ समिध्यसेsamidhyase देवेभ्योdevebhyo हव्यवाहनhavyavāhana |

तंtaṃ तवाtvā हवन्तमर्त्याःhavantamartyāḥ ||
Praised by our hymns thou kindlest thee, Oblation-bearer, for the Gods
As such do mortals call on thee.
10.118.5
तंtaṃ मर्ताmartā अमर्त्यंamartyaṃ घर्तेनाग्निंghṛtenāghniṃ सपर्यतsaparyata |

अदाभ्यंग्र्हपतिमadābhyaṃghṛhapatim ||
To that Immortal Agni pay worship with oil, ye mortal men,—
Lord of the house, whom none deceives.
10.118.6
अदाभ्येनadābhyena शोचिषाग्नेśociṣāghne रक्षस्त्वंrakṣastvaṃ दहdaha |

गोपाghopā रतस्यदीदिहिṛtasyadīdihi ||
O Agni, burn the Rākṣasas with thine unconquerable flame
Shine guardian of Eternal Law.
10.118.7
सsa तवमग्नेtvamaghne परतीकेनpratīkena परत्योषpratyoṣa यातुधान्यःyātudhānyaḥ |

उरुक्षयेषुदीद्यतurukṣayeṣudīdyat ||
So, Agni, with thy glowing face burn fierce against the female fiends,
Shining among Uruksayas.
10.118.8
तंtaṃ तवाtvā गीर्भिरुरुक्षयाghīrbhirurukṣayā हव्यवाहंhavyavāhaṃ समीधिरेsamīdhire |

यजिष्ठंyajiṣṭhaṃ मानुषेmānuṣe जनेjane ||
Uruksayas have kindled thee, Oblation-bearer, thee, with hymns.
Best Worshipper among mankind.
