कयाkayā शचिष्ठयाśaciṣṭhayā वर्ताvṛtā ||
WITH what help will he come to us, wonderful, ever-waxing Friend;
With what most mighty company?
4.31.1
कसkas तवाtvā सत्योsatyo मदानामmadānām मंहिष्ठोmaṃhiṣṭho मत्सदmatsad अन्धसःandhasaḥ |

दर्ळ्हाdṛḷhā चिदcid आरुजेāruje वसुvasu ||
What genuine and most liberal draught will spirit thee with juice to burst
Open e’en strongly-guarded wealth?
4.31.2
अभीabhī षुṣu णःṇaḥ सखीनामsakhīnām अविताavitā जरित्णामjaritṇām |

शतमśatam भवास्यbhavāsy ऊतिभिःūtibhiḥ ||
Do thou who art Protector of us thy friends who praise thee
With hundred aids approach us.
4.31.3
अभीabhī नna आā वव्र्त्स्वvavṛtsva चक्रंcakraṃ नna वर्त्तमvṛttam अर्वतःarvataḥ |

नियुद्भिशniyudbhiś चर्षणीनामcarṣaṇīnām ||
Like as a courser's circling wheel, so turn thee hitherward to us,
Attracted by the hymns of men.
4.31.4
परवताpravatā हिhi करतूनामkratūnām आā हाhā पदेवpadeva गछसिghachasi |

अभक्षिabhakṣi सूर्येsūrye सचाsacā ||
Thou seekest as it were thine own stations with swift descent of powers:
I share thee even with the Sun.
4.31.5
संsaṃ यतyat तta इन्द्रindra मन्यवःmanyavaḥ संsaṃ चक्राणिcakrāṇi दधन्विरेdadhanvire |

अधadha तवेtve अधadha सूर्येsūrye ||
What time thy courage and his wheels together, Indra, run their course
With thee and with the Sun alike,
4.31.6
उतuta समाsmā हिhi तवामtvām आहुरāhur इनin मघवानंmaghavānaṃ शचीपतेśacīpate |

दातारमdātāram अविदीधयुमavidīdhayum ||
So even, Lord of Power and Might, the people call thee Maghavan,
Giver, who pauses not to think.
4.31.7
उतuta समाsmā सद्यsadya इतit परिpari शशमानायśaśamānāya सुन्वतेsunvate |

पुरूpurū चिनcin मंहसेmaṃhase वसुvasu ||
And verily to him who toils and presses Soma juice for thee
Thou quickly givest ample wealth.
4.31.8
नहिnahi षमाṣmā तेte शतंśataṃ चनcana राधोrādho वरन्तvaranta आमुरःāmuraḥ |

नna चयौत्नानिcyautnāni करिष्यतःkariṣyataḥ ||
No, not a hundred hinderers can check thy gracious bounty's flow,
Nor thy great deeds when thou wilt act.
4.31.9
अस्मांasmāṃ अवन्तुavantu तेte शतमśatam अस्मानasmān सहस्रमsahasram ऊतयःūtayaḥ |

अस्मानasmān विश्वाviśvā अभिष्टयःabhiṣṭayaḥ ||
May thine assistance keep us safe, thy hundred and thy thousand aids:
May all thy favours strengthen us.
4.31.10
अस्मांasmāṃ इहाihā वर्णीष्वvṛṇīṣva सख्यायsakhyāya सवस्तयेsvastaye |

महोmaho रायेrāye दिवित्मतेdivitmate ||
Do thou elect us this place for friendship and prosperity,
And great celestial opulence.
4.31.11
अस्मांasmāṃ अविड्ढिaviḍḍhi विश्वहेन्द्रviśvahendra रायाrāyā परीणसाparīṇasā |

अस्मानasmān विश्वाभिरviśvābhir ऊतिभिःūtibhiḥ ||
Favour us, Indra, evermore with overflowing store of wealth:
With all thy succours aid thou us.
4.31.12
अस्मभ्यंasmabhyaṃ तांtāṃ अपाapā वर्धिvṛdhi वरजांvrajāṃ अस्तेवasteva गोमतःghomataḥ |

नवाभिरnavābhir इन्द्रोतिभिःindrotibhiḥ ||
With new protections, Indra, like an archer, open thou for us
The stables that are filled with kine.
4.31.13
अस्माकंasmākaṃ धर्ष्णुयाdhṛṣṇuyā रथोratho दयुमांdyumāṃ इन्द्रानपच्युतःindrānapacyutaḥ |

गव्युरghavyur अश्वयुरaśvayur ईयतेīyate ||
Our chariot, Indra, boldly moves endued with splendour, ne’er repulsed,
Winning for us both kine and steeds.
4.31.14
अस्माकमasmākam उत्तमंuttamaṃ कर्धिkṛdhi शरवोśravo देवेषुdeveṣu सूर्यsūrya |

वर्षिष्ठंvarṣiṣṭhaṃ दयामdyām इवोपरिivopari ||
O Sūrya, make our fame to be most excellent among the Gods,
Most lofty as the heaven on high.
