HYMN VII. AGNI.


मूर्धानंmūrdhānaṃ दिवोdivo अरतिंaratiṃ पर्थिव्याpṛthivyā वैश्वानरंvaiśvānaraṃ रतṛta आā जातमग्निमjātamaghnim |

कविंkaviṃ सम्राजमतिथिंsamrājamatithiṃ जनानामासन्नाjanānāmāsannā पात्रंpātraṃ जनयन्तjanayanta देवाःdevāḥ ||

Him, messenger of earth and head of heaven, Agni Vaiśvānara, born in holy Order,
The Sage, the King, the guest of men, a vessel fit for their mouths, the Gods have generated.
6.7.1

नाभिंnābhiṃ यज्ञानांyajñānāṃ सदनंsadanaṃ रयीणांrayīṇāṃ महामाहावमभिसंmahāmāhāvamabhisaṃ नवन्तnavanta |

वैश्वानरंvaiśvānaraṃ रथ्यमध्वराणांrathyamadhvarāṇāṃ यज्ञस्यyajñasya केतुंketuṃ जनयन्तjanayanta देवाःdevāḥ ||

Him have they praised, mid-point of sacrifices, great cistern of libations, seat of riches.
Vaiśvānara, conveyer of oblations, ensign of worship, have the Gods engendered.
6.7.2

तवदtvad विप्रोvipro जायतेjāyate वाज्यग्नेvājyaghne तवदtvad वीरासोvīrāso अभिमातिषाहःabhimātiṣāhaḥ |

वैश्वानरvaiśvānara तवमस्मासुtvamasmāsu धेहिdhehi वसूनिvasūni राजनrājan सप्र्हयाय्याणिspṛhayāyyāṇi ||

From thee, O Agni, springs the mighty singer, from thee come heroes who subdue the foeman.
O King, Vaiśvānara, bestow thou on us excellent treasures worthy to belonged fo r.
6.7.3

तवांtvāṃ विश्वेviśve अम्र्तamṛta जायमानंjāyamānaṃ शिशुंśiśuṃ नna देवाdevā अभिabhi संsaṃ नवन्तेnavante |

तवtava करतुभिरम्र्तत्वमायनkratubhiramṛtatvamāyan वैश्वानरvaiśvānara यतyat पित्रोरदीदेःpitroradīdeḥ ||

To thee, Immortal! when to life thou springest, all the Gods sing for joy as to their infant.
They by thy mental powers were made immortal, Vaiśvānara, when thou shonest from thy Parents.
6.7.4

वैश्वानरvaiśvānara तवtava तानिtāni वरतानिvratāni महान्यग्नेmahānyaghne नकिराnakirā दधर्षdadharṣa |

यज्जायमानःyajjāyamānaḥ पित्रोरुपस्थे.अविन्दःpitrorupasthe.avindaḥ केतुंketuṃ वयुनेष्वह्नामvayuneṣvahnām ||

Agni Vaiśvānara, no one hath ever resisted these thy mighty ordinances,
When thou, arising from thy Parents' bosom, foundest the light for days' appointed courses.
6.7.5

वैश्वानरस्यvaiśvānarasya विमितानिvimitāni चक्षसाcakṣasā सानूनिsānūni दिवोdivo अम्र्तस्यamṛtasya केतुनाketunā |

तस्येदुtasyedu विश्वाviśvā भुवनाधिbhuvanādhi मूर्धनिmūrdhani वयाvayā इवiva रुरुहुःसप्तruruhuḥsapta विस्रुहःvisruhaḥ ||

The summits of the heaven are traversed through and through by the Immortal's light, Vaiśvānara's brilliancy.
All creatures in existence rest upon his head. The Seven swift-flowing Streams have grown like branches forth,
6.7.6

विvi योyo रजांस्यमिमीतrajāṃsyamimīta सुक्रतुर्वैश्वानरोsukraturvaiśvānaro विvi दिवोdivo रोचनाrocanā कविःkaviḥ |

परिpari योyo विश्वाviśvā भुवनानिbhuvanāni पप्रथे.अदब्धोpaprathe.adabdho गोपाghopā अम्र्तस्यamṛtasya रक्षिताrakṣitā ||

Vaiśvānara, who measured out the realms of air, Sage very wise who made the lucid spheres of heaven,
The Undeceivable who spread out all the worlds, keeper is he and guard of immortality.
